Music – Mrs. Megan Sullivan
Many families already know Mrs. Sullivan from the after-school Musical Theatre program she runs with her husband, or you may recognize her as the lady singing loudly in church as they’ve been parishioners at St. Edward since 2017. Mrs. Sullivan is thrilled and honored to now share her love of music with all our students, staff, and families at St. Edward School. Mrs. Sullivan attended Central Michigan University, where she received a BME and certification in K-12 music and K-8 general education, with advanced study in voice, piano, percussion, and theatre. She loves to play the piano, sing, dance, and act. She has a studio of Performing Arts in Jefferson Park, where she shares her love for teaching and performing through music, theatre, and dance. In her free time she enjoys camping, hiking, walks with her dog, puzzles, cooking, baking, and appreciating the arts and the beauty of life they represent.
Preschool – Ms. Chelsey Berlin
Ms. Berlin has always been a firm believer in following one’s heart – do what you love, and the rest will follow. Since childhood, she had always loved writing stories and continued to do so all throughout college where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Columbia College Chicago. Her admiration for storytelling led to moving cross-country in Los Angeles where she resided for six years and worked in digital marketing. Ms. Berlin moved back to Chicago in early 2020 when she discovered her true passion, working with children. While nannying for a family, she quickly became fascinated with the learning and development of young children and decided to make a career change and go back to school for a master’s degree in early childhood education. Ms. Berlin knows preschool is a wonderful age and a great environment to create fun, positive, and meaningful learning experiences. Other than being a lifelong learner, her hobbies include cooking, working out, playing with nephews, movies and cuddling with her dog, Max. She is enthusiastic for the upcoming school year and can’t wait to meet her students!
Kindergarten – Mr. Ryan Mencini
This is Mr. Mencini’s first year as full-time teacher, but he’s no stranger to St. Edward School. Before going to Illinois State University for his bachelors in Elementary Education he was a teachers aid for preschool here at St. Ed’s. While enrolled at ISU, he taught in many different classrooms from grades 2-5 and had the opportunity to learn from many amazing professors and teachers. He enjoys teaching all subjects, but his favorite is social studies. Mr. Mencini’s hobbies are sports, fishing, comedy, and taking care of his dog, Desi. He is very excited to be part of the St. Edward School community again and cannot wait for the upcoming school year!
Eighth Grade and Jr. High Science/STEM – Ms. Vicky DeLira
Ms. DeLira is a born and raised Chicagoan and she’s thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to her city through St. Edward. This is her first year teaching Jr High science – a subject/age pairing that played a fundamental role in her educational journey. Ms. DeLira graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Environmental Sciences and in Global Health Studies, and an MS in Plant Biology and Conservation. She loves reading, sewing, climbing, and learning about our countless Saints! Some saints that are currently occupying her heart and mind are St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Catherine of Sienna, and now St. Edward! She is excited to join our school community and is looking forward to a fantastic school year!
